with tumor in mine, an image only
the umbra of sleep awakes. only in this
shadow you lived, my mind setting its
quill to scrawl the year, until all

met their lids, reset their sight—all birds
kept their wings. i can live without

gladly, comforter
[ ]
chrysalis, abyss of linen and gold.
clear as water, my grief. if wind undid.
tomorrow

don’t traipse inside me like that.
fire up. can you dance like
habit isn’t begging. or i’m not
just thinking human in

placed in my lap. when we both roused,
roused, untouched by years of
trickled things—shame, pain, cells
verbose with themselves. i hear the gone
xerces blue was gossamer-winged. i quelled
zephyrus—that all dead may fly back after you—
